According to latest news, the state food minister has visited Darjeeling and has announced his positive plans. Jyotipriya, the state food minister visited Darjeeling today and he announced the plans about revamping PDS in the Hills.
According to Jyotipriya, his plans are on anvil for solving the growing complains regarding the irregular functioning of food. These plans are on anvil and soon the difficulties occurring in supplies department will soon be handled. (PDS) Public Distribution System will be revamped because the number of dealers of PDS in the Hills will be increased.
Previously there used to be a PDS dealer in a ten kilometer radius but now there will be a PDS dealer in every three to four kilometers, and this for the customer’s convenience. The plans are also on anvil for the settlement of quality control laboratories. These laboratories will be in sub divisions and districts.
The minister has also announced that the plans are on anvil for settling up Monitoring Vigilance Committee. The basic target is to deal with the Hills that are being neglected for the last three to four years. Also there will be a chairman of the above mentioned monitoring system and this will be done without political affiliation.
The other targets that are on anvil include the supplying of flour and rice to the PDS consumers who are not included on the BPL list. The stock minister also shared some of his other plans that are on anvil such as to rent out the abandoned spaces. These will be rent out to the dealers and will be utilized for storing grains.
The collection of rent from the supplies department has been planned and its implementation is on anvil for the people living in Darjeeling. Setting up two MR shops plan is also on anvil and this will help in the distribution of kerosene oil.
