DARJEELING: The original plan was to shoot for his film till the end of this month, take a monsoon break and resume shooting some time in August. But such was the impact of the chaos the film's unit experienced on Thursday that Anurag Basu, director of the film, has decided to leave the Hills at the earliest.

Basu will shoot a scene for his film, Barfee, at some place in the Hills, but refused to divulge details about the locations.

While briefing the media on Thursday, Basu had hinted that he may continue with the shooting in Darjeeling. However, on Friday he said point blank, "It was really chaotic in Chowrastha on Thursday. I am planning to leave the Hills at the earliest. However, since the tickets were available only for June 19, we will be staying for another day."

When asked about the location of Saturday's shoot, the director said, "That I will not say now". Tindharia, a small hamlet in Kurseong sub-division, was the location for Friday's shoot.

Crowds gathered around the location on Friday to see Ranbir Kapoor but unlike in Chowrastha, the situation was much calmer and poised. "The crowd here was more obedient and everything was normal," said Basu with a sigh. Security arrangements were also in place keeping in mind the chaotic incident that took place a day before. Ranbir was in his usual charming self and waved to the crowd in between his shots.

Basu had penned most of Barfee's script sitting in a hotel in Darjeeling after three months of detailed background work. When asked if he would return to shoot in Darjeeling, he said, "I really don't know. It is up to the production house to decide."

On Thursday, Basu had said that he chose Darjeeling to be the film's setting over popular location like Shimla and Ooty. "Yes, I have a very close affinity with the Hills. I have several friends here and a room is always booked for me to pen down scripts," he had said on Thursday.

"It is really sad that I will not be able to shoot in Darjeeling," he said on Friday before signaling for a re-shoot of a scene.
