Kolkata, Sep 15 : Tea brands--CTC, Orthodox and Dust were in good demand, while Darjeeling was sold at irregular price at the recent tea auction, Kolkata Tea Market report said.
A statement issued by Kolkata Brokers' Joint Statistics Department, here today said CTC sold 92,883 packages, weighing 2912,105.92 kgs.
There was good demand for plainer sorts which sold readily.
Orthodox were in good demand and sold 6,148 packages with a total weight of 133,718.20 kgs, the statement said, adding that clean well made whole leaves were firm around last levels.
Small broken were firm while larger broken were steady around last level.
Darjeeling whole leaf were sold at irregular rates. Broken and fannings sold at around last level.
There was useful enquiry from traditional exporters as well as the major blendors. A total of 6148 packets, weighing 133,718.20 went under hammer.
