Anytime is tea time for Hyderabadis. Now they can savour their favourite beverage in absorbing flavours. Some of the finest blends from Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri and China are here to rejuvenate the senses and leave one asking for more.
Connoisseurs can sample an array of black, red, oolong, green and white tea at Melange, the world cuisine restaurant at Golkonda Hotel here. On Thursday, the hotel introduced five different flavours for its customers, Darjeeling oolong, Imperial Nilgiri, Chinese Flower, Herbal relief tea and iced tea.
All of them are served without sugar and milk in specially designed transparent glass cups – so that one can enjoy the colour as the beverage is brewed. In fancy flute-like cups the beverage is poured from a glass teapot. Water is boiled in an electric kettle for two to two and half minutes and poured into the beaker containing the tea leaves.
“The whole experience is a treat to the eyes, which is quite different from the conventional tea served,” says Akesh Bhatnagar, general manager, The Golkonda Hotel.
How much does it cost? A teapot containing four cups comes for Rs. 130. At the hi-tea served between 4 p.m. and 6.30 p.m four savoury snacks and two desserts are also provided along with the tea.
The Golkonda Hotel has tied up with the Finjan company to provide this exotic experience. If Mr. Bhatnagar is to be believed, tea comes with many benefits. It takes the stress out of life while reducing obesity, controlling blood sugar, BP and increasing alertness. So, how about a cuppa?
